Football Falls to Privateers on Senior Day

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Football team dropped a conference game to Maritime College early this afternoon 14-7 on AMCAT Field.

 

Offensive Numbers:

 

Maritime (6-2, 4-1 ECFC) quarterback Joseph Butterworth managed to throw 26 times and completing 12 of his passes for 161 yards, despite the strong winds and pouring rain. Butterworth throw for 1 touchdown pass and one interception.

 

The Privateers running game mostly comprised of Kahlil Lewin, who gained 121 yards this afternoon. Lewin was able to break lose for one 28-yard scamper and added a touchdown in the contest.

 

Christian Castle led Maritime in receiving, as he hauled in 5 catches for 113 yard and a long of 35 yards.

 

AMCATS (1-7, 1-3 ECFC) Alex Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) took 25 shots down the field and completed 11 of them for 134 yards. Cohen also ran the ball 16 times for 29 yards and a 2-yard touchdown.  

 

Vincent Marrone (Wayne, NJ) led the team in yards on the ground with 39 on 14 carries. Ryan Johnson (Ware, Mass.) had 7 touches as well, that he took for 27 yards.

 

James Cavallo (Duxbury, Mass.) and Marcelino Da Veiga (Central Fall, RI) both had three receptions apiece. Cavallo had a 28-yard reception for a long and he totaled 52 yards on the day. Da Veiga had 49 yards on the day receiving with a 45 yarder for a long.      

 

Defensive Numbers

 

Maritime was led by Liam Bailey as he totaled 11 tackles in the game, with 8 coming on solo tackles. James Varga also seemed to be everywhere as he accumulated 9 tackles of his own, with 6 coming in as solo's.

 

Anna Maria was led by Nedrion Payne (Warterbury, Conn.) who compiled 9 tackles on the day including a forced fumble. He was closely followed by Jude Sampson (Waterbury, Conn.) and Kai Nero-Clark (Wheatley Heights, NY) as they both ended the game with 8 tackles apiece. Also, for the AMCATS Darrin Cooper (Fulton, NY) was able to come down with an interception in the red zone that he returned for 9 yards.

 

Maritime will be back on the field November 3rd to face Hampton at 1:00 PM.
