AMC Football Staff Names 2018 Team Captains

PAXTON, Mass – Thursday afternoon, second year head football coach Dan Mulrooney and his staff named their team captains for the 2018 season; five in total. Three of this year's AMCAT captains play of the offensive side of the ball, two on the defensive side.

Senior offensive line duo Paul Robitaille (Johnston, R.I.) and Dan Stout (Mercerville, N.J.) along with senior quarterback Emmanuel Leake (Providence, R.I.) will represent the offense. Sophomore defensive back Carl St. Paul (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior defensive lineman Kai Nero-Clark (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) will represent the 'Cats defense.

Paul Robitaille, a 6'3" 265-pound offensive lineman has played in 24 of a possible 30 games in his career for Anna Maria. For the 2018 season, Paul switches sides of the ball to play alongside fellow captain Dan Stout after spending the first three years of his collegiate career as a defensive lineman. Robitaille was named to the ECFC's Academic All-Conference Team in following the 2017 season.

Dan Stout enters his senior season for the AMCATS having played in 24 of a possible 30 games on the offensive line. In 2017, Stout was named to the ECFC All-Conference Second Team and was a First Team selection on the Worcester Area Football Association All-Star Team.

Senior quarterback Emmanuel Leake began his career at AMC as a wide receiver. In eight games between his freshman and sophomore seasons he caught just 5 passes for 66 yards. In 2017 the team had a need at the quarterback position and Emmanuel stepped in to the role without missing a beat. In nine games Leake threw for 1,309 yards, 145.4 yards per game, both good for fifth among passers in the ECFC, nine of his passes went for scores. His best game came against conference opponent Gallaudet University in which he threw for 318 yards and a score. Leake's first season as a quarterback earned him an All-Conference Honorable Mention and was voted Anna Maria College Breakout Athlete of the Year at the 2017 AMC Athletic Awards Ceremony.

Sophomore defensive back, Carl St. Paul has been named a captain in just his second season with the AMCATS. In 2017, Carl was third on the team in tackles with 30 and assisted on 14 tackles in 10 games. He added two fumble recoveries and an interception to his stat line last season.

Kai Nero-Clark, senior defensive lineman and now four-year starter, has played in 30 of a possible 30 games coming in to his fourth year with AMC. He recorded 13 tackles, 7 assisted tackles, a sack and three tackles for loss in 2017. In his career he has 43 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

"These players were picked to be our 2018 captains because they are great teammates, great students and a great representation of AMCAT football and the Anna Maria College community." Said head coach Dan Mulrooney. "We look to enter the 2018 season behind their leadership on and off the field."
