Women’s Soccer Falls to Bridgewater in MASCAC Opener

PAXTON, MA - Anna Maria College was defeated 7-0 by Bridgewater State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer game on Saturday afternoon at Caparso Field.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to an overall record of 0-4 and 0-1 in conference play.

Brooke Austin started in net for Anna Maria, enduring an onslaught of shots throughout the first 37 minutes of play, accruing six saves while allowing just two goals to keep the score close despite the Bears outshooting the AMCATS by a margin of 19 in the half. Kortney Clark took over in net in the 38th minute of play, making seven saves throughout the rest of the contest.

Olivia Vale da Serra had the best opportunity to score on the day for Anna Maria, shooting on net from a free kick 25 yards out, forcing the Bridgewater goalie to make a save.

Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday, September 10th, in a non-conference matchup against Simmons at Caparso Field beginning at 6:00 p.m.
