Golf in 9th After Day One at GNAC Championship

Cranston, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University team hosted the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at the Cranston Country Club on Saturday.  After an exciting first day of action, just seven shots separate the top four places.  Southern Maine sits in first place with a 303 while Rhode Island College is in second at 305.  Host JWU is in third place with a 306 while UMass Dartmouth rounds out the top four with a 310.

 

Southern Maine's Aidan Boyce and Tim Leigh of Rhode Island College are tied for the individual lead with an even par 71.  Brad Myers from Southern Maine sits in third place with a 73 while JWU junior Juan Fernandez is in fourth place with a 74.  Suffolk's Luke Ferrari caps off the top-five, carding a 75 over the par 71 course that measures 6,493.

 

Tee times for the second round of the championship will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 20th.  The winner of the tournament earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championship at The Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
