Women's Cross Country Third in Season Opener
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Anna Maria College women's cross country team participated in its 2012 season debut at Western New England College versus the Golden Bears and Elms College. The AMCATS finished third with 78 points behind the Bears (16) and Blazers (46). Senior Maggie Guillette (Manchester, Conn.), competing in her first collegiate meet, was the AMCATS top scorer crossing the finish line in 27:44.
First year head coach John Nichol was proud of the Lady AMCATS today, "The girls showed a lot of mental toughness today. The heat and sun was brutal and caused breathing problems in several of the runners yet they were able to rise to the occasion and perform. This will be a fun season and I expect several girls to see dramatic improvement as the season goes on."
