Women's Cross Country Finishes Fifth at Worcester City Invitational

PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College women's cross country team placed fifth out of seven teams at the Worcester City Invitational on held at Moore Park in Paxton on Saturday.

Sophomore Ashley Eccleston (Plymouth, Mass.) paced the AMCATS with a season-best 11th-place finish with a time of 22:02. Classmate Maureen Moore (Newbury, Mass.) was the 19th runner to cross the finish line and finished with a time of 22:40. Freshman Ashley Bricault (Cumberland, R.I.) was two slots behind her with a time of 22:53.

Senior Kelsey Donelly (Lakeville, Mass.) recorded 32 points for the AMCATS with a time of 24:18, and freshmen Shannon Latour (Millbury, Mass.) and Kayla Odegaard (Milton, Mass.) tallied 40 and 42 points with times of 25:42 and 26:07, respectively.

Assumption College won the event and had six of the top-10 finishers including race winner Cassie Lincoln. Worcester State, Clark, and Fitchburg State rounded out slots two through four. Anna Maria finished ahead of WPI and Nichols.

Anna Maria returns to action next Saturday, October 4th, as they travel to Westfield State for the James Early Invitational. Race time is slated for 11:00 a.m.
