Women’s Soccer Edged By Eastern Nazarene

- PAXTON, MA : The Anna Maria College women's soccer team lost 1-0 against visiting Eastern Nazarene University on Wednesday evening at Carposo Field in Paxton, Massachusetts.

THE BASICS:

- Date: Wednesday, September 8, 2021
- Score: Eastern Nazarene 1, Anna Maria 0
- Records: Lions of Eastern Nazarene (2-1) | AMCATS of Anna Maria (1-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The AMCATS outshot the Lions for the night, 15-5, but were snakebit by an early foul that resulted in a penalty kick. Eastern Nazarene senior midfielder Diamond Best (Danvers, MA) shot it in to the keeper's left, putting the visitors ahead 1-0, a score that would hold up for the final score.
  • Eastern Nazarene senior Sophia Fevola (Wellington, FL) picked up the shutout win, tallying six saves in net.
  • Anna Maria senior goalkeeper Rachel Matloff (Grafton, MA) stopped two shots for the AMCATS.  Senior midfielder DeAnna Baker (Lansdale, PA) paced her squad with four shots.
