Women's Soccer Falls To Lynx In Opener

- PAXTON, MASS. : The Anna Maria College women's soccer team opened their 2021 season with a 3-0 home loss to visiting Lesley University on Thursday evening at Carposo Field.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Maria senior goalkeeper Rachel Matloff (Grafton, MA) was stalwart in net for the AMCATS, tallying nine saves on the night in just 56 minutes. Anna Maria senior forward Keannah Dunsmore (Georgia, VT) had the AMCATS sole shot-on-goal of the evening.
  • Lesley senior midfielder Claire Hounslow (Westborough, MA) struck first for the Lynx, scoring in the 28th minute. Hounslow's goal proved to be the eventual game-winner.
  • Lesley freshman Emily Winkels (St. Louis, MO) scored her first career goal, that coming in the 36th minute. That shot was soon followed by fellow rookie Abby Kalou (Buffalo Grove, IL) scoring in the 40th minute.
  • Lesley junior goalkeeper Audrey Calhoun (Chapel Hill, NC) picked up the shutout victory for the Lynx.
