Pilgrims Handle Women's Lacrosse On Senior Night

PAXTON, MA - On Saturday, April 20th the Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team hosted the Pilgrims of New England College for Senior Night. The AMCATS lost the game 17-5.

The AMCATS would start the scoring first, against the Pilgrims, the goal would come from Riley Michaud assisted by Christine Ijawet. It would then be the Pilgrims to score to tie the game against the AMCATS 1 to 1. The AMCATS would strike back to take the lead against the Pilgrims again coming off the stick of Makayla Gleba assisted by Riley Michaud. That would put the AMCATS up against the Pilgrims 2 to 1. The Pilgrims did not let down as they would strike two more times to regain the lead at the end of the first quarter. The Pilgrims would be leading the AMCATS 3 to 2 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter would be like the first quarter with back-and-forth action for both teams. The Pilgrims would score one, but it would be the AMCATS to quickly strike back to the Pilgrims making it a 4 to 3 game, with the Pilgrims in the lead. The AMCATS offense would keep pushing as they would get a goal from Kyana Altif to tie the game for the AMCATS against the Pilgrims 4 to 4. The Pilgrims offense would then be to much for the AMCATS as the Pilgrims would score seven unanswered goals, to take the lead over the AMCATS 11 to 4. The AMCATS offense would strike again before the end of the third quarter off a free position shot from Sarah Gonzalez, with the score now being 11 to 5 in favor of the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims would score one more time before the end of the third quarter regaining the lead by 7 with the score now being 12 to 5 over the AMCATS.

The final quarter of the game would be all Pilgrims, as the AMCATS would be kept off the board and the Pilgrims would score five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter. The Pilgrims would go on to win the game over the AMCATS 17 to 5.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Tuesday, April 23rd where they will host the Cadets of Norwich for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. It would also be the last game of the regular season for the AMCATS. Opening draw is set for 4:00pm.
