Women's Lacrosse Dominates Mariners

PAXTON, MA. – The Anna Maria Women's lacrosse team (2-7) hosted the Mitchel College Mariners (0-5) at Caparso Field in Paxton, MA. The AMCATS won the game 24 to 3. 

The AMCATS would come out strong scoring the first goal of the game against the Mariners leading 1 to 0. It would not be long before the Mariners would strike back on the AMCATS defense and tie the game at one. The AMCATS would then get two quick goals at the end of the first quarter only 42 seconds apart one coming from Raegan Hachey unassisted and the other would come from Carly Drew assisted by Makayla Gleba. That would close the scoring out for the first quarter of the game, with the AMCATS leading the Mariners 3 to 1.

The second quarter the AMCATS offense would be fast, quick, and intense for the Mariners as the AMCATS would score six consecutive goals in the second quarter increasing their lead to 9 to 1. The Mariners would get one back making it a 9 to 2 game, but it would be the AMCATS offense to strike two more times increasing the lead to 11 to 2. It would then be the Mariners to score with about 8 minutes remaining in the second quarter to make it a 11 to 3 lead but then it would be all AMCATS the rest of the second quarter as they would score five consecutive goals to end the first half up against the Mariners 16 to 3.

The second half was strong for the AMCATS as the AMCAT defense would keep the Mariners off the board the rest of the game, but the AMCAT offense would continue to pour on the goals against the Mariners, as the AMCATS would score three more goals in the third quarter increasing their lead to 19 to 3. The offense of the AMCATS would not stop as they would continue to press the offense in the fourth quarter scoring five consecutive goals to end the game against the Mariners with a 24 to 3 win.

-Raegan Hachey would get a career high five goal game

- There were 9 different goal scores for the AMCATS

- The AMCATS would outshoot the Mariners 51-11

- The AMCATS would outscore the Mariners in the second half 8 to 0.

-  AMCATS went 18-19 on clear attempts during the game.

Anna Maria women's lacrosse is back in action on Saturday April 17, 2024 where they will travel to Nashua, NH to take on the Raiders of Rivier University. Opening draw is set for 12:00 PM.
