WORCESTER, MA. – On Friday, February 2nd and Saturday February 3rd, the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team played a home and home series against the Trailblazers MCLA. The AMCATS tied game one 1-1 and won game two 3-0.
Game One: Scoreless at the end of the first period, the AMCATS dominated the game from the start as they outshot the Trailblazers 22-3. It wouldn't be until about half way through the second period that the AMCATS managed to get one past the MCLA goaltender as Tessa Henry scored off a pass from Jordyn Bleaney. Leading 1-0 the AMCATS continued to dominate the game.
Despite outshooting the trailblazers 41 to six in the first two periods, the AMCATS found themselves tied up with the trailblazers early in the third period after Katie Pica scored off a pass from Abby Pomajba. Unable to regain the lead, the AMCATS ended up going into overtime with the Trailblazers where neither team managed to find a game winner. The game would end in a 1-1 tie.
Game Two: At home for game two of the home and home series, the AMCATS kicked things off early as Jordyn Bleaney scored less than thirty seconds in into the game. The AMCATS didn't stop there as Shayla MacDonald scored nearly four and a half minutes later on her senior night. The goal came with help from Bleaney and Abigail Vigliotte. Leading 2-0 early in the first, the AMCATS maintained control throughout the remainder of the period.
MacDonald set the tone in the second period as she scored her second goal of the night just twenty six seconds into the second period. Macdonald's goal would be the last goal scored in the matchup as the AMCATS fended off the Trailblazers to secure a 3-0 victory on senior night.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Sam Dahill made 29 saves in the shutout over the Trailblazers.
- Shayla MacDonald had two girls in her senior night.
- Jordyn Bleaney leads the AMCATS with 16 points so far this season.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Friday, February 9th where they will host the Rivier University Raiders at the Buffone Arena in Worcester, MA. Opening puck drop is at 5:40pm.
