Women’s Basketball Can’t Get Past Raiders

NASHUA, NH. – On Wednesday, January 17th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to Nashua, NH to take on the Rivier University Raiders for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 79-75.

In a tight back and forth matchup, the AMCATS took the early lead over the Raiders at the start of the first quarter. Leading until about the two minute mark, the Raiders took over for the last minutes of the game eventually leading over Anna Maria 24-19 as the quarter came to a close. The AMCATS quickly closed the gap at the start of the second quarter, tying things up within the first two minutes of play. The AMCATS would battle back and forth with the Raiders for most of the second quarter, before the Raiders pulled away yet again giving them the lead as the first half came to a close.

With a score of 42-39 in favor of the Raiders at the start of the third quarter, the AMCATS looked to even the playing field. After tying the game back up, the AMCATS seemingly went point for point with the Raiders for the entirety of the third quarter however it would be the Raiders on top yet again. This time leading by one free throw as the game entered its final quarter. Tit for tat, the AMCATS fought hard against the Raiders however the game came down to just four points as the AMCATS couldn't catch the Raiders in the end. The game would end with a final score of 79-75 in favor of Rivier. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Marinique Reddin posted her fourth double double performance in a row scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
• Madison Paulhus put up an impressive 13 points in the matchup making 2 three pointers and going 3 for 6 on the free throw line.
• Arianna Saladini continued her strong outside shooting performance with a 50% three point percentage.
• The AMCATS shot a season high of 52.2% outside the shooting arc against the Raiders.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, January 20th where they will make their way over to Newton, MA to take on the Lasell University Lasers for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening tip off is set for 2:00pm.
