Softball Drops Two Against Cadets To End Season

NORWICH, VT - On Sunday, April 28th the Anna Maria College softball team traveled to Norwich, VT to take on the Norwich University Cadets for their last Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup of the season as well as their last doubleheader of the season. The AMCATS lost both games 1-0 and 4-1.

Game One: The AMCATS went down early in game one as they allowed a run in the bottom of the first off a wild pitch to make it a 1-0 game. The rest of the game would prove to be a battle of the defenses as both teams held each other at zero runs for the remainder of the game. Unfortunately for the AMCATS the result meant a 1-0 loss to start the day up in Vermont.

Game Two: The second game of the day would prove to be a more competitive matchup as both teams were held at one run a piece after four innings. The AMCATS run would come off a homer from Shay Savoie in the top of the fourth inning. The game would proceed scoreless over the fifth inning before the Cadets managed 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to push the AMCATS into a precarious position. Unable to tie things up in the top of the seventh the game would close out in favor of the Cadtes with a score of 4-1.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Shay Savoie would close out the season as the teams leader for stolen bases with 40. Shay would also lead the conference at the end of the regular season.
