HIGHLIGHTS:

  • GAME ONE – Started on a positive note for the AMCATS who jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Sophomore shortstop Michelle Cilley (Dracut, MA) opened the game with a double to center. Senior third baseman Samantha Dahill (Littleton, MA) then walked, putting runners on first and second before sophomore pitcher Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) then loaded the bases by reaching on an error by the Mariner second baseman. Sophomore catcher Saylor Costa then made the Mariners pay with a single to right bringing home Cilley with what would turn out to be the AMCATS only run of the game.
  • GAME TWO – Costa went a perfect three for three at the plate with a pair of runs scored. Costa started the scoring in the second inning when she scored after doubling center. Sophomore designated player JaNyia Maloy (Bonaire, GA) then brought her home with a single to center.
    • Two innings later Costa scored again as part of a three-run inning for the AMCATS. This time she walked to lead off the inning and moved to second when Kiara Edmonds reached on an error by the Mariners pitcher on a sacrifice bunt attempt. Two batters later freshman right fielder Raven Carriere (Labroquerie West, MB) scored both runners with a single to rightfield. After stealing second Carriere then scored when the Mariners again failed to field a sacrifice but, this time by Samantha Rintoul-Bonneau (Worcester, MA).
    • The AMCATS capped their scoring in the top of the seventh. Entering the inning leading 4-2, senior centerfielder Kassandra Register (Bakersfield, CA) started the inning with a double to left and moved to third when the Mariners successfully handled a sacrifice bunt by Cilley. Two batters later Forget brought her home with a single to center.
