TURNING POINT:

  • GAME ONE – The AMCATS were most active in the middle innings, putting up crooked numbers in the third and fourth innings. The big hit in the third inning was an RBI double to centerfield by senior shortstop Michelle Cilley (Dracut, MA). In the fourth inning, it was Cilley again with an RBI double down the right-field line that brought in senior centerfielder Kassandra Register (Bakersfield, CA).
  • GAME TWO – Was an example of the AMCATS looking at what worked in game one and turning it up to 11. The AMCATS again found ways to put up crooked numbers in back-to-back innings, this time to open the game. In their five-run first inning, the AMCATS made the most of one hit to make the Badgers pay for four walks and a hit batter. This time it was senior third baseman Samantha Dahill (Littleton, MA) providing the big hit when she pulled the ball down the leftfield line to bring home sophomore shortstop Eden Forget (Worcester, MA).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Forget scattered five hits over seven innings in game one while striking out five to get credit for the complete-game shutout. The win improved her record to 4-5 on the year. This was the second complete-game shutout of her career, following her win in the AMCATS 14-0 victory over Fisher College on March 23rd.
  • Sophomore Kiara Edmonds (Lynn, MA) was 2-2 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI in game one.
  • Senior right-handed pitcher Sabrina Liston stretched her hitting streak to double digits with an RBI single in the fifth inning of game two. In the circle Liston improved to 4-7, allowing one run on five hits and striking out six.
  • Register was 3-3 on the day with two stolen bases, four runs scored and another driven in. She also walked twice meaning she was on base all five times she came to the plate.
  • Evelyn Brubaker (Tucson, AZ) scored the only run of the day for the Badgers when she homered to left-center to lead off game two.
