Worcester, MA: The Anna Maria College softball team lost both ends of a double header to Clark University on Tuesday at the O'Brien Softball Field. The AMCATS were the home team in a game moved to Clark University due to field conditions in Paxton.

BASICS:

TURNING POINT:

  • Down 3-0 entering the bottom of the third inning of game one, the AMCATS claw their back behind an RBI double by Senior outfielder Samantha Dahill (Littleton, MA), an RBI ground out by Sophomore catcher Saylor Costa (E. Providence, RI). Senior shortstop Michelle Cilley (Dracut, MA) would bring the "home" team back to even when she scored on a pass ball. The Cougars would cruise from there, outscoring the AMCATS 8-1 in the final four innings.
  • In game two the AMCATS were held to two runs on six hits with only junior second baseman Kendall McNamee recording an extra base hit. Cilley recorded the AMCATS only RBI when she grounded out to first to score McNamee from third in the fifth inning to set the final score at 10-2.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • McNamee recorded three hits on the day, including a perfect 2-2 in the second game. She also scored both of her team's runs in the second game.
  • Dahill and freshman left fielder Rory Hughes (Worcester, MA) each had matching 2-3 lines in the first game with a run scored and an RBI each.
  • Sophomore Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) struck out five in the first game while only walking one.

UP NEXT:

The AMCATS will return to the field on Wednesday with a double header at home against Fisher College. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm.
