Softball Comes Up Short To NC Wesleyan, Montclair St.

North Myrtle Beach, SC: The Anna Maria College softball team dropped a pair of games today at the Fast Pitch Dream Spring Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In the first game the AMCATS fell 6-0 to North Carolina Wesleyan. The second game was a 10-0 loss to the hands of Montclair State.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• In the first game, freshman pitcher Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) matched her NC Wesleyan counterpart for the first five innings as both teams were held scoreless until the Battling Bishops exploded for six runs.
• Freshman DP JaNyia Maloy (Bonaire, GA) paced the AMCATs offense in the first game with two hits. Senior shortstop Michelle Cilley (Dracut, MA) and junior center fielder Kassandra Register (Bakersfield, CA) each contributed a hit and a stolen base in the opener.
•  NC Wesleyan pitcher Sophia Salcido scattered seven AMCAT hits enroute to a complete game shutout.
• In the second game the Red Hawks pitcher Kayla Volante limited the AMCATs to four hits while striking out two.
• Freshman catcher Saylor Costa (E. Providence, RI) recorded half of the AMCATs offense with singles in the first and fourth innings.

UP NEXT:

The AMCATS will continue their spring break trip with two games Thursday at the Fast Pitch Dream Spring Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Game one will be against Thiel College Tomcats at 11:30am followed by game two against the Hilbert Hawks at 1:30pm.
