Softball Drops Two In Florida

NORTH MYRTLE, SC: The Anna Maria College softball team lost both of their two games at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Monday. The AMCATS lost 12-4 to Cazenovia in the opener before losing 16-12 to Penn State Abington.

THE BASICS:

• Date: Monday, March 7, 2022

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Anna Maria sophomore catcher Saylor Costa (Providence, RI) doubled in two runs for the AMCATS against the Wildcats in the top of the third of their morning game, driving in senior first baseman Ashley Garcia (Cornwall, NY) and senior second baseman Michelle Cilley (Dracut, MA).
• In the top of the fourth against Cazenovia, junior shortstop Kendall McNamee (Somers, CT) scored off an error, and on the very next at bat Cilley hit an RBI single to score freshman third baseman Rory Hughes (Worcester, MA).  
• Facing the Nittany Lions, Ciley went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
• Garcia exploded in game two for four hits including a two-run home run, her first homer of the year.
• Senior pitcher Sabrina Liston (Rehoboth, MA) was a force on both sides, with three hits, two doubles, four runs batted in and five strikeouts.

UP NEXT:

Anna Maria will be back on the field on Tuesday when they play N.C. Wesleyan and Montclair State.
