HIGHLIGHTS

  • The AMCATS entered today's game fired up after their 3-2 victory over Elms on Wednesday and knowing that they needed a victory in today's game to keep their postseason hopes alive. The AMCATS responded with one of the most complete games of the year while also getting some historic results from senior forward Hezekiah Adeyeye (Woonsocket, RI)
  • Senior forward Matthew Pearle (East Wareham, MA) wasted little time getting the AMCATS on the scoreboard in the 8th minute with his second goal of the season. He took a through pass from Adeyeye and drew the keeper just far enough off his line before firing a shot past the 6'5" Pride goalie to the wide side of the net. The assist was the third of the season for Adeyeye and the 18th of his collegiate career. moved him into a tie with Sean McDonald for first on the AMCATS all-time assists leaderboard.
  • Adeyeye gave the AMCATS an insurance goal in the 66th minute from about 30 yards deep. He took a header from Pearle and dribbled parallel to the goal before finding enough space to fire off his shot and beat the goalkeeper to the upper left corner of the goal. The goal was the seventh of the season for Adeyeye and the 27th of his collegiate career, moving him into a tie with Gary Heldenbergh for third place on the AMCATS all-time goals list.
  • Sporting a 2-0 lead the AMCATS fell back into a defensive posture and continued to clog the Pride's passing lanes. Despite the AMCATS defensive pressure, the Pride were able to get off 10 shots in the second half alone but AMCATS graduate student keeper Valter Santiago remained tall in goal. Recording five of his seven saves in the second half.
