Men’s Soccer Loses a Heartbreaker to Bard College

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College men's soccer team opened their home slate when they took on Bard College in a non-conference matchup this evening at Caparso Field. Despite having several scoring opportunities and outshooting the visitors 13-7 the AMCATS could not get on the board and fell to the Raptors 2-0.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Anna Maria's best chance came in the 61^st minute when senior forward Hezekiah Adeyeye (Woonsocket, RI) brought the ball up the left sideline and sent a cross into Rubelsi Moran (Holden, MA) in front of the net but Moran's shot banged off the left post.
• Moran had another opportunity at the 82^nd minute. After shaking and baking the defender from the left corner of the box, Moran got to the area of the penalty line and fired a shot that went hard off the top of the crossbar.
• Sophomore keeper David Flores (San Antonio, TX) made his season debut recording four saves on six shots on goal.
• The Raptors' first goal came off a direct kick in the 12^th minute from about 20 yards out. Caleb Riberio (Sterling, MA) took the shot that floated just inside the left post before the Anna Maria keeper's dive could stop it.
• Bard was able to add an insurance goal in the 83^rd minute when Cole Ewalt (Kaneohe, HI) found a wide-open Calvin Moe (Bainbridge Island, WA) at the penalty stripe who fired the shot into the net.

Anna Maria will be in action again on Saturday when they will travel to Taylor Field in Newton, MA to play Lasell University. The teams will take the pitch for a 1 PM start.
