Men’s Soccer Loses Heart-Breaker To Lancers

- PAXTON, MA : The Anna Maria College men's soccer team lost 3-2 against visiting Worcester State on Tuesday evening at Carposo Field in Paxton, Massachusetts in a matchup of cross-county rivals.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Worcester State first-year forward Santino Romeo (Sutton, MA) tied the game at 2-2 in the 80^th minute off a put-back shot, and just three minutes later capitalized on a gap in the Anna Maria defense to put away the eventual game-winner, that assisted by senior midfielder Alexander Papageorgiou (Tewksbury, MA).
• Anna Maria junior goalkeeper Kyle Sherman (Mount Laurel, NJ) tallied eight saves for the AMCATS, going the distance in net. 
• Worcester State sophomore goalkeeper Andy Ramirez (Waltham, MA) picked up his first career win, stopping ten of twelve Anna Maria shots.
• Anna Maria freshman midfielder Rubelsi Moran (Holden, MA) scored his third career goal to tie the game up at 1-1 in the 65^th minute, taking a pass from junior forward Hezekiah Adeyeye (Woonsocket, RI) right in front of the goal and finishing with a chip shot over the keeper's head. 
• In the 77^th minute, Moran used a corner kick to find fellow AMCAT rookie freshman midfielder Aiden McFadden (Holbrook, MA) who headed the shot in for his first career goal and giving Anna Maria its first lead of the game. Moran thus took part in both Anna Maria goals.
• Worcester State first year midfielder Jemal Mohamud (Worcester, MA) scored the first goal of the game in the 39^th minute, that coming off a solo breakaway.
