Salve Regina Too Much For Men’s Soccer

- PAXTON, MASS. : The Anna Maria College men's soccer team lost 7-1 to visiting Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon at Carposo Field in a non-conference matchup.

THE BASICS:

- Date: Saturday, September 4, 2021
- Score: Salve Regina 7, Anna Maria 1
- Records: Seahawks of Salve Regina (1-1) | AMCATS of Anna Maria (0-1-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Salve Regina graduate student midfielder Jacob Guerra (Colchester, CT) got the scoring started in the 27th minute, when senior midfielder Rich Ventura (Floral Park, N.Y.) broke down the defense and found him on the left side for a wide-open score to put the Seahawks ahead 1-0.

- 31 minutes in, it would be Salve Regina junior back Sam Winiarski (Westfield, MA) finding the back of the net, assisted by Guerra.

- Salve Regina sophomore striker Zeke Menendez (Avon, CT) made it 3-0 just before halftime, taking the cross from Winiarski and finding the corner of the goal for his first goal of the season.

- Early in the second half, the AMCATS would finally get on the board as Anna Maria junior forward Hezekiah Adeyeye (Woonsocket, RI) took a pass from freshman midfielder Rubelsi Moran (Holden, MA) and scored just 1:36 into the period.

- From that point, however, the Seahawks took control. Junior midfielder John Reichert (Bordentown, N.J.), sophomore midfielder Jordan Borges (Milford, MA) and freshman midfielder Ethan David (Stratford, CT) each tallied their first goals of the season in the second half of the game, with Menendez pulling the exclamation point on the afternoon with a long strike with less than four minutes left in the game.
