Men's Lacrosse Closes Season With Loss To Raiders

PAXTON, MA - On Wednesday, April 24th the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team hosted the Rivier Raiders from Nashua, NH for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Matchup. It would be the final game for the AMCATS this season. The AMCATS lost the game 17-8.

The AMCATS would start the scoring off early in the game with a goal from Ellie Charles, less than two minutes into the game, putting the AMCATS up 1 to 0 over the Raiders. It did not take long for the Raiders to strike back and score three consecutive goals on the AMCATS making it a 3 to 1 game. It would then be the AMCATS to get a goal from Spencer Carpenter off a pass from Tommy Girard. The Raiders would then strike back 21 seconds later to get a goal to end the first quarter with a score of 4 to 2 in favor of the Raiders.

The Raiders would start the scoring off for in the second quarter with a goal about a minute into the quarter leading the AMCATS now 5 to 2. It would then be the powerful offense of the AMCATS to score three consecutive goals, from three different goal scorers. That would tie the game 5 to 5 for the AMCATS against the Raiders. It would then be the Raiders to score twice to regain the lead against the AMCATS making it a 7 to 5 game in favor of the Raiders. The AMCATS would not give up and keep pushing against the Raiders as they would strike again off the stick of Tommy Girard off a pass from Jeremy Dewar with 45 seconds left in the second quarter to cut the Raiders lead to one. The Raiders would be leading the AMCATS heading into the half with a score of 7 to 6.

The Raiders would strike first in the third quarter, but it would be again the fight from the AMCATS to strike back 39 seconds later off a goal from Tommy Girard assisted by Jake Lupo. That would have the Raiders still up by one goal with a score of 8 to 7 against the AMCATS. The Raiders would then score three consecutive goals to end the third quarter with the Raiders leading the AMCATS 11 to 7.

The fourth quarter for the AMCATS would be tough as the Raiders would come out strong with three straight goals to add to their lead against the AMCATS 14 to 7. The AMCATS offense would be limited to just one goal in the fourth quarter off the stick of Liam Bedenkop assisted by Tommy Girard. It would then be the Raiders to score three more times to end the fourth quarter with a score of 17 to 8. The AMCATS would fall short to the Raiders losing the game 17 to 8.

  • The AMCATS would wrap up the regular season with a total of 182 saves of the season, 134 goals, 59 assists, and a total of 630 ground balls.
  • Caden Rakes would make 19 saves off 36 shots this game.
