Wildcats Too Much For Men’s Lacrosse

PROVIDENCE, RI. – The Anna Maria Men's lacrosse team (2-9; 1-4) traveled to Providence, MA on Saturday, April 1st to take on the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University (8-1; 4-0). The AMCATS lost the game 19-3.

After a quick goal from the Wildcats just fifteen seconds into the first quarter, the AMCATS scratched back with a goal from Ethan Quinn. The AMCATS were held scoreless for the remainder of the quarter. Trailing 5-1 at the start of the second quarter Quinn tried to start things up for the AMCATS with a goal two minute into the quarter. Despite setting the tone early in the second, the AMCATS were unable to score again for for the remainder of the quarter, closing out the first half behind the Wildcats 15-2.

The AMCATS were unable to find the back of the net until early in the final quarter after Liam Bedenkop fed Tommy Girard for Anna Marias third goal of the day. That would be the final goal of the game as the AMCATS were held at 19-3 until the final buzzer.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The AMCATS are 0-3 against the Wildcats in their last three meetings.
  • This was the AMCATS first time being held at only three goals since last season.

Anna Maria men's lacrosse is back in action on Tuesday, April 4th where they will host the Norwich University Cadets at the Caparso Field in Paxton, MA. Opening face off is at 6:00PM.
