Men’s Lacrosse Secures First Conference Win Against Regis

PAXTON, MA. – The Anna Maria Men's lacrosse team (2-8; 1-3) hosted the Regis College Pride (3-3; 0-3) at the Caparso Field in Paxton, MA for a GNAC Conference matchup. The AMCATS beat the Pride 12-9.

The AMCATS opened the game up with a pass from Liam Bedenkop to set up Hank Gittines for goal number one of the day. Gittines would score the next two goals for the AMCATS one being assisted by Tommy Girard. Ethan Quinn closed out the scoring in the first quarter for the AMCATS off a pass from Aiden Foster with just nine seconds left on the clock. The AMCATS led 4-2 over the pride at the end of the first.

Two goals from Regis in the second quarter tied the game up at four goals a piece. With just over a minute left on the clock, Bedenkop found the back of the net off a feed from Girard, giving the AMCATS the 5-4 lead going into the second half.

Tommy Girard buried his first goal of the night off a pass from Foster to start the scoring off for the AMCATS in the third quarter. Not long after Quinn found twine for the AMCATS seventh goal of the night. Gittines and Bedenkop each put up a goal to close out the third quarter.

Three goals for the AMCATS sealed the deal in the fourth quarter giving Anna Maria the win over the Pride 12-9. Hank Gittines led the charge burying five goals for the AMCATS.

Anna Maria men's lacrosse is back in action on Saturday, April 1st where they will head to Providence, RI to take on the Johnson and Wales Wildcats. Opening face off is at 11:00AM.
