Merchant Marine Sinks Men's Lacrosse 24-6

KINGS POINT, NY. – On Saturday, February 25th the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team traveled out to Kings Point, NY to face off against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The AMCATS lost the game 24-6.

After being held scoreless in the first fifteen minutes of play the AMCATS finally got up on the board with a goal from Brennan Fields (Chicopee, MA) early in the second quarter.

The AMCATS couldn't hold on to the momentum and were met by six unanswered Marine goals, Trailing 14-1 going into the second half of the game.

The Marines defense held off the AMCATS for most of the third quarter before Ethan Quinn (Dudley, MA) was able to find the back of the net with a little over a minute left in the third. The AMCATS held onto the momentum with Fields putting away his second goal of the night with nine seconds left in the third quarter.

Down 18-3 going into the final quarter the AMCATS went back and forth with the Marines trying to scratch their way back into the game however the Marines locked things down in the last five minutes of the game to hold the AMCATS at six goals.

Brennan Fields had four goals and an assist. He was joined by Ethan Quinn and Aiden Foster (Rehoboth, MA) who both posted a goal in the matchup against the Marines.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Brennan Fields leads the AMCATS with 15 points in four games this season.
  • Nicholas Lopez had his first career NCAA start against the Marines.

Anna Maria men's lacrosse is back in action on Tuesday, March 7th where they will take on the Rams of Farmingdale State. Opening face off is at 7:00PM.
