Mens Lacrosse Beats Pilgrims For First Win Of The Season

HENNIKER, NH. – On Wednesday, February 22nd the Anna Maria men's lacrosse team traveled to Henniker, NH to face off against the Pilgrims of New England College. The AMCATS won the game 13-12.

Brennan Fields (Chicopee, MA) opened things up for the AMCATS with an unassisted goal less than three minutes into the game.

Despite the quick start for the AMCATS the Pilgrims burried three goals before Fields set up Hank Gittines (Shrewsbury, NJ) for his first goal of the night. After the first 15 minutes of play, the AMCATS trailed behind the Pilgrims 4-2.

Scoreless for almost half of the second quarter the AMCATS are back on the board with Fields feeding Tommy Girard (Newbury, MA) for his first goal of the night. Girard payed it back feeding Aiden Foster (Rehoboth, MA) for the game tying goal with just under two minutes before halftime.

Two goals from Ethan Quinn (Dudley, MA) in the third quarter gave the AMCATS the lead before NEC scored four unanswered goals to close out the quarter. Girard assisted both goals in the third quarter.

Quinn set the tone for the final quarter with an unassisted goal three minutes in. Fields tucked in his second of the night from Girard, just fifteen seconds later. Trailing by one goal Gittines tied things up at nine goals a piece with nine minutes left to play.

A quick response from the Pilgrims put the AMCATS down by two within a minute of tying things up. Despite falling behind yet again, the AMCATS persevered putting up four unanswered goals to pull out the win over the Pilgrims.

Hank Gittines led the charge with five goals against the Pilgrims. Ethan Quinn followed close behind with three goals. Tommy Girard (4 assists) and Brennan Fields (3 assists) came in with two goals each.
