Men’s Hockey Can’t Hold On Against The Roos

CANTON, NY: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team traveled to Canton, NY on Saturday night to face off against the SUNY Canton Roos. The AMCATS lost the game 4-3.

THE BASICS:

• Date: Saturday, January 28, 2023
• Score: SUNY Canton 4, Anna Maria 3
• Records: SUNY Canton Roos 10-12 | Anna Maria AMCATS 8-12-1

HIGHLIGHTS

• With SUNY Canton on the board first the AMCATS closed out the first and second period trailing behind the Roos 3-0.
• The AMCATS found new life during the third period with a power play goal from Matt Byrne (Assisted by Derek Raposo) putting the AMCATS on the board just under 3 minutes into the period.
• A goalie change from SUNY Canton shortly after Anna Marias first goal gave the AMCATS an opportunity with close to 15 minutes left to play.
• Striking Quick against SUNY Cantons new goaltender. The AMCATS get their second goal of the night off a shot from Givovanni Perillo (Assisted by Cam Tobey). 
• Now trailing by one with under 13 minutes left to play, a dump in pass from Justin Taylor manages to get passed the SUNY Canton goaltender tying the game up at 3. August Bouveng was given the assist on the goal.
• SUNY Canton returned the favor however scoring just over a minute later to regain the lead.
• The AMCATS battled it out for over ten minutes but couldn't find the back of the net to tie the game back up.
