Huskies Too Much For Men’s Ice Hockey

GORHAM, ME: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team traveled to Gorham, ME to take on the University of Southern Maine Huskies. The AMCATS lost the game 7-2.

THE BASICS:

• Date: Saturday, December 10, 2022
• Score: USM 7, Anna Maria 2
• Records: USM 2-9-1 | Anna Maria AMCATS 5-7-1

HIGHLIGHTS

• After a quick goal from the huskies four minutes into the first period the AMCATS scratched back with a goal scored by Carter Anderson assisted by Braeden McKinnon.
• Tied up at one half way through the first period the AMCATS were met with a second goal from the Huskies with less than five minutes left in the period.
• Trailing by one going into the second period the AMCATS were able to hold off the Huskies before they found themselves down by another goal. Putting USM up 3-1 half way through the second period.
• The Huskies were quick to follow putting up their fourth goal of the game just minutes later. Resulting in Anna Maria to pull goaltender Cole Johnston in exchange for Aidan Richardson.
• The AMCATS respond to the goaltender change with a quick goal from Samson Mouland to help cut the Huskies lead in half. He was assisted by Matthew Gilbert and Patrik Peltola.
• Despite the quick goal to start rallying back the Huskies were back on the board with under a minute left in the second period. 
• Going into the third period the Huskies led 5-2.
• The AMCATS struggle to find their momentum as the Huskies opened up the third period with two quick goals two minutes and three minutes into the final period of the game. 
• The Huskies pulled away with a final score of 7-2.

UP NEXT:

Anna Maria will be back in action after the winter break where they will head over to the Canton Ice House in Canton, MA on January 6 to take on Curry College. Puck drop is at 7:00PM.
