Men's Ice Hockey: Byrnes Leads AMCATS In Win Over New England College

HENNIKER, NH: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team took on the New England College Pilgrims Tuesday evening defeating Pilgrims 4-2 for their third win of the season.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

  • After a quick goal in the first period from sophomore defenseman Derek Raposo six minutes into the game, the AMCATS closed out the period leading 1-0.
  • The AMCATS came out on fire to start the second period with junior forward Matthew Gilbert finding the back of the net just 2:46 into the period.
  • To close out the second period sophomore forward Matt Byrnes led Anna Maria with two goals to put Anna Maria on top 4-2 going into the third period.
  • The AMCATS led 4-2 at the start of the final period where junior goaltender Aidan Richardson held down the fort and kept New England College to their two goals. Richardson recorded 23 saves on 25 shots in the win.
