Men’s Ice Hockey Drop Season Opener to Nichols at Woo Cup20

WORCESTER, MA: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team opened their regular season when they faced off against Nichols College on Friday evening in the 2022 Worcester Woo Cup semifinals at the Worcester Ice Center.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

• Freshman defenseman Mykllan Couture (Pilot Butte, SK) scored the first goal of the season for the AMCATS and the first of his career to cut the Bisons' lead to 2-1 just under five minutes into the second period when his shot from the right point went through traffic and beat the screened goalie. Guillaume Coulombe (Ste-Julie, QC) was credited with the assist.
• Freshman goaltender Cole Johnston (Regina, SK) recorded 15 saves on 18 shots in his first collegiate start.
• The AMCATS had plenty of opportunities in this game, outshooting the Bisons 58-19, but the Bisons' goalie Tyler Bost proved up to the task, recording 57 saves.
