Men’s Ice Hockey Upsets Albertus Magnus On Senior Night

AUBURN, MA: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team won 6-3 against visiting Albertus Magnus College on Saturday evening at the Horgan Arena in Auburn, Massachusetts.

SENIOR NIGHT:

  • Prior to the game, the AMCATS recognized their graduating senior class as part of senior day. The class of Aryan Batra (Franklin, MI), Brendan Boncore (Oakland, MI), team captain Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC), Jonathan Fowler (Tewksbury, MA), Drew Goupille (Bedford, MI), Julius Huset (Oakdale, MN), team captain Patrick Manning (Messena, NY), Gavin Proeh (Highland Park, IL), Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, CA) and Quinn Tucker (Hancock, NH) were honored by coaches, teammates, family members and fans for their time with the men's ice hockey program. All ten of these student-athletes have made outstanding contributions not only on the ice but to the entire Anna Maria campus community as a whole. Although their time with the program may be ending they will forever be a part of the AMCAT family.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The AMCATS took a commanding 5-1 lead early in the third period over the heavily-favored Falcons, holding off a late surge by the visitors.
  • Anna Maria sophomore center Guillaume Coulombe (Ste-Julie, QC) led the AMCATS with two goals and an assist, including scoring the eventual game-winner 1:24 into the third period.
  • Anna Maria junior left defenseman Cam Tobey (Falmouth, MA) scored two goals on the night.
  • The seniors also made an impact, with Manning scoring the first goal of the game to set the tone and Proeh assisting on two scores, tying for the AMCAT lead in assists on the season with eight.
  • Anna Maria sophomore center Matthew Gilbert (Wyandotte, MI) scored his second goal of the season, that coming 6:44 into the second period.
  • Boncore finished with a season-best 40 saves on the night.
  • Albertus Magnus junior forward Alex Gagnon (Montreal, QC), sophomore defenseman JJ Berdal (Wausau, WI) and junior forward Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC) all tallied goals for the visiting Falcons.

UP NEXT:

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Tuesday evening when they host Franklin Pierce University for a 5:40 p.m. game.
