Manning Leads As Men’s Ice Hockey Stuns Corsairs

BEDFORD, MA: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team won 6-2 at UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday evening at Hetland Skating Arena in Bedford, Massachusetts.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Anna Maria freshman right wing Deklan Whillans (Grande Prairie, AB) continued his strong play of late, scoring his second career goal on an even-strength shot with 6:55 to go in the first period, assisted by senior left wing and team captain Patrick Manning (Messena, NY). The AMCATS took a 1-0 lead over their MASCAC hosts.
• UMD freshman defenseman Tim Kippenberger (Wilmington, MA / Valley Junior Warriors (EHL)) scored the equalizer 6:36 into the second period for the Corsairs on a power play goal, assisted by junior forward Michael Perrone (Mt. Sinai, N.Y. / Aberdeen Wings (NAHL)) and senior forward Dillon Radin (Long Beach, NY / New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs (EHL)). The teams were tied at 1-1.
• The AMCATS regained the lead just three minutes later, as senior left defenseman Drew Goupille (Bedford, MI) scored his second goal of the year on an even-strength shot, assisted by junior center Patrik Peltola (Espoo, Finland). Anna Maria entered the third period with a 2-1 lead.
• In the third period, it was all AMCATS. In order, senior left wing Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, CA), senior center Quinn Tucker (Hancock, NH) and Manning all scored to give an Anna Maria a commanding 5-1 advantage. Peltola added an empty netter with 1:38 to go.
• Manning starred for the AMCATS, with  goal and two assists.

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Saturday when they host Southern Maine for a 6:30 p.m. game.
