Raiders Too Much For Men’s Ice Hockey

NASHUA, NH: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team lost 3-1 at Rivier University on Friday evening in Nashua.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Friday, December 3, 2021
  • Score: Rivier 3, Anna Maria 1
  • Records: Raiders of Rivier 4-5-1 | AMCATS of Anna Maria 3-5-2

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After a scoreless first period, the Raiders broke the tie with a powerplay goal at 9:58 into the second period. After two Anna Maria penalties to give the Raiders a 5-3 advantage Tyler Duderstadt (Sewickley, PA) found the back of the net.
  • The AMCATS would respond at 11:02 into the period to tie it back up at one all. After another AMC penalty, Patrick Manning would take a wrist shot from just above the right circle that somehow found its way between Luke Newell's (Littleton, CO) leg pads for a shorthanded goal. Other than that, Newell had another stellar 34 save game.
  • The third period would be all Rivier, starting off just 6 minutes in with another powerplay goal by Milan Breczko (Klasterec, CZR) to give the Raiders a 2-1 advantage.
  • Rivier would tack on one more with about a minute left by way of an empty net from Jon Tavella (E. Longmeadow, MA).

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Saturday when they head to UMass Boston for a 4:00 p.m. game.
