Shaw Scores Four As Field Hockey Soars Past Albertus Magnus

PAXTON, MA : The Anna Maria College field hockey team won 14-0 over visiting Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Saturday morning at Caparso Field in Paxton.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Maria grad student forward Allyson Shaw (Worcester, MA) – who sang the national anthem during pregame introductions – returned to the field and scored a career-high four goals against the Falcons, while also assisting on two more scores.
  • Anna Maria sophomore forward Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) posted a hat trick, with three goals and one assist. Forget scored the eventual game-winner just 1:38 into the game.
  • Anna Maria senior midfielder Chayna Bingham-Hendricks (Mashpee, MA) setup the offense all game long, finishing with a career high five assists in a single game. As of press time, Bingham-Hendricks' five dimes are tied for the most in the nation in a single game for this season.
  • Anna Maria junior defender Meghan Sonia (West Tisbury, MA) had a hat trick for her first three goals of the season.
  • Anna Maria sophomore defender Chloe Giordano (Revere, MA) scored her first career goal in the 27th minute, then would finish one more and assist on two others.
  • Anna Maria sophomore defender Nicole LaCoste (Rochdale, MA) added one goal and one assist.
  • Anna Maria freshman defender Kayla Proia (Maynard, MA) chipped in three assists.        
  • Anna Maria junior goalkeeper Hannah Tobey (Falmouth, MA) recorded her first career shutout victory for the AMCATS.
  • Albertus Magnus goalkeeper Mikayla Lyston (Medford, NY) finished with 15 saves in a valiant effort for the Falcons.

Anna Maria will be back on the field on Thursday when they travel to Bridgewater State for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
