PAXTON, MA: Senior right-fielder Jason Shell (Sandwich, MA) of the Anna Maria College baseball team capped off one of the best regular seasons in AMCAT history as he has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the week ending May 1, 2022 in an announcement by the conference on Tuesday.

Shell slashed .583 / .643 / .750 at the plate for the week with two doubles, two walks, six runs scored and three runs batted in. Behind his performance, the AMCATS swept Norwich University on Friday afternoon to claim the number two seed in the upcoming GNAC playoffs, securing a first-round bye.

Shell's performance this season has etched its way into the Anna Maria record books as he set the school's all-time career record in stolen bases (34) while ranking second all-Time in career doubles (42) and triples (7) and third all-time career hits (178), career home runs (12) and career total bases (270). At press time and ahead of the GNAC's All-Conference announcement next Monday, Shell was leading the GNAC in hits, hitting, triples and slugging.

Shell is the fourth different AMCAT to be named GNAC Player of the Week this season.
