HIGHLIGHTS

  • GAME One – Trailing 1-0 in the top of the sixth, AMCATS junior designated hitter James Powers (Folsom, CA) led off the inning with a double to right. Freshman first baseman Jeremy Rosenberg (Boynton Beach, FL) and senior third baseman Nick Genatossio (Sutton, MA) was hit by a pitch to load the bases for senior catcher Noah Holland. Holland rolled a pitch over to the second baseman, forcing Genatossio at second, but was able to beat the relay for a fielder's choice, scoring Powers from third.
  • Game Two – The AMCATS attempted to come back in game two but fell short with the tying runs on base. Down to the AMCATS' final out, Junior center fielder reached on an error by the Monk's third baseman before moving first to third on a single to center by senior right fielder Jason Shell. Kosta Drosidis (Holden, MA) then drove in the loan AMCATS run with a single to left.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Freshman right-handed pitcher Nick Choate (Carver, MA) threw five innings of four-hit ball in game one, striking out nine batters while only allowing one run. The Monk's first-inning run snapped Choate's streak of 10 scoreless innings over his last three appearances dating back to March 29th.
  • The AMCATS were patient at the plate today, walking nine times today, including six in game one alone. The six walks represent the third time this season they have had at least six walks in a game, the last being March 18th against Castleton when they walked seven times. The first was March 5th against New Jersey City when they recorded eight.
