GNAC Baseball Polls 2022

GNAC: AMCATS Voted Pre-Season Conference Favorites

Paxton, MA – The Anna Maria College baseball team, the defending Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season champions, were voted the preseason favorites to repeat as champions in a poll of GNAC coaches as announced by the conference on Monday.

The AMCATS received 91 total points from the voting, including five first-place votes. That narrowly edged the Monks of St. Joseph's College of Maine, who finished with 90 points and three first-place votes.

The AMCAT lineup – which finished last year leading all of New England as well as finishing top 10 nationally in team batting average – is loaded, returning seven of nine starters. 2021 GNAC Player of the Year Kosta Drosidis (Holden, MA) and fellow All- New England selection James Powers (Folsom, CA) provide the power while All-GNAC honorees in Noah Holland (Sandwich, MA), Jason Shell (Sandwich, MA), Nick Genatossio (Sutton, MA) and Jarrod Marifiote (Framingham, MA) ensure there are no safe spots for opposing pitchers.

On the other side of the ball, 2019 GNAC Picher of the Year Jack Marzec (Northbridge, MA) leads a pitching rotation expected to keep Anna Maria in contention all season long.

The team had already been voted favorites to win the GNAC in a d3baseball.com preseason poll.

The AMCATS are scheduled to open their regular season on February 27th at 2:30 p.m. against New England College at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, MA.
