Sports Medicine

Mission Statement

The Anna Maria College Sports Medicine Department, along with the University of Massachusetts Sports Medicine Clinic, provides athletic training services to the intercollegiate Student-Athletes of Anna Maria College while adhering to the College’s mission of spiritual, intellectual, and personal growth. The primary services available include the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. We are committed to using any and all technology that is accessible and affordable in order to provide the most effective treatments possible.

We strive to provide every Student-Athlete with high-quality sports medicine health care in a professional manner while maintaining the standards set forth by the BOC Standards of Professional Practice and the statutes and regulations of the Division of Professional Licensure in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Anna Maria College Sports Medicine Department promises that individuals can be assured of fair, effective treatment pertaining to athletic injuries regardless of any factor, including but not limited to race, religion, gender, or ability.

RULES

  1. It is the responsibility of the Student-Athlete to report all physical injuries, as well as mental health concerns, to the Sports Medicine Staff as soon as they occur.
  2. Student-Athletes are expected to make appointments for treatment. If you cannot attend an appointment, it is your responsibility to communicate that to the Sports Medicine Staff. During non-appointment hours, triage of the room is as follows: Emergency, Game, Practice, Non-traditional.
  3. All required forms must be completed before sports medicine services can be administered.
  4. Appropriate attire is required in the athletic training room at all times. Muddy or cleated shoes are not allowed.
  5. No profanity, derogatory/abusive, or disrespectful language is allowed.
  6. No personal electronic devices in use during treatments.
  7. No posting photos or videos on social media from the athletic training room.
  8. No loitering or lounging in the athletic training room.
  9. Student-Athletes must sign-in for treatment.
  10. No food or beverages, other than water, are allowed in the athletic training room.
  11. Student-Athletes do not treat themselves. All treatments must be administered by the Sports Medicine Staff.
  12. Do not remove any equipment from the athletic training room without permission. All borrowed equipment must be signed out. Student-Athletes will be financially responsible for items that are not returned.

 FACILITIES

AMCAT CENTER

The Sports Medicine office located in the AMCAT Center adjacent to Caparso Field services all Anna Maria College student-athletes. This facility became fully functional in 2012. It is the primary athletic training room for all AMC student-athletes. The room is staffed throughout the year and is equipped with the modalities of thermotherapy, cryotherapy and electrical stimulation. The room serves as the primary location for all student-athlete treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

FULLER ACTIVITIES CENTER

The Sports Medicine office located in the Fuller Activity Center is open to all AMC student-athletes. Its primary function is to provide Athletic Training services to the indoor Student-Athlete.  As a functioning Sport Medicine facility it is equipped with thermotherapy, cryotherapy and electrical stimulation modalities.
