Curry Again Too Much For Women’s Volleyball

- PAXTON, MA : The Anna Maria College women's volleyball team lost in three sets to visiting Curry College on Tuesday evening at the Fuller Center in Paxton, with set scores of 25-21, 25-19, 27-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Maria junior outside hitter Bella Kozciak (Westfield, MA) led the AMCATS with six kills, nine digs and three service aces.
  • Curry senior outside hitter Lexi Pereira (Attleboro, MA) paced the Colonels with 11 kills and ten digs.
  • Anna Maria sophomore setter Julia Tarantino (Pembroke, MA) setup the offense, with 13 set assists and six digs.
  • Curry senior middle blocker Amanda Wood (Tokyo, Japan) finished with ten kills and two service aces.
  • The match was decided in the third set. Down 18-9 at one point, the AMCATS stormed back, winning eight of the next nine rallies behind the serving of junior libero Serena Dennis (Holyoke, MA). Later facing match point, Anna Maria would rally once again, taking the lead off the serving of senior outside hitter Jenna Grande (Whitman, MA). Now leading 25-24 and with a chance to claim the set, Curry would answer with three straight points to close it out, finishing it out with a kill by Pereira.

- Anna Maria will be back on the court on Saturday when they travel to Bay Path University for a 2:00 p.m. match.
