Regis Nips Women’s Soccer In GNAC Action

PAXTON, MA : The Anna Maria College women's soccer team lost 3-0 to visiting Regis College on Wednesday night at Carposo Field in Paxton, Massachusetts.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Regis senior midfielder Miya Nishibun (Honolulu, HI) – already the Pride's leading scorer – struck first for the visitors, finding the back of the net off a long cross from junior forward Maria Toumbouras (Walpole, MA) in the 14th minute to put Regis ahead 1-0.
  • In the 23rd minute it would be Nishibun again, as she finished with a put-back off a long shot from senior back Kerri Urquhart (Burlington, MA) for her tenth goal of the season as the Pride took a 2-0 lead. That would remain the score going into halftime.
  • Late in the game, Regis first year Allison Meade (Stoneham, MA) scored her first career goal off a long throw-in for the final score.
  • Anna Maria junior goalkeeper Alice Yokabaskas (Farmingdale, ME) got the start in net for the AMCATS, tallying 12 stops.
  • Regis senior goalkeeper Ori Attridge (Westwood, MA) finished with two saves, picking up the shutout.
  • Anna Maria senior midfielder DeAnna Baker (Lansdale, PA) led the AMCATS with two shots on the night.

Anna Maria will be back on the field on Saturday when they trave to Elms College for a 1:00 p.m. match.
