Women's Soccer Flown Past by Bluejay's

- WEST HARTFORD, CONN: The Anna Maria Women's Soccer team fell to the University of Saint Joseph's (Conn.) this afternoon in conference action.  

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/2/2019

- Score: USJ 5, Anna Maria 0

- Records: USJ (9-1, 4-1 GNAC), Anna Maria (3-6-1, 0-4-1 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Bluejay's held a 2-0 going into the half after goals from Olivia Belcourt (Cromwell, CT) in the 3rd minute, and Ariana Gazaferi (Southington, CT) in the 17th minute.

-  St. Joe's would continue their run into the second half with another three goals. The first two in the half were from Gazaferi to complete her hat trick, and the final goal was by Rylee Snow (West Greenwich, RI)

- AMCATS Defense was able to hold USJ to only 8 total shots in the contest. The 'Cats D is led by Meghan Marrone (Westerly, RI).   


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Anna Maria fell just short to the Bluejay's in shots 8 to 4.

-  Lindsey Montminy (Vernon, CT) will receive the win after tending net for 59 minutes and making 2 saves.

Rachel Matloff (Grafton, MA) received the loss in net for the AMCATS as she faced 5 shots and made 1 save.

- Anna Maria returns to action on the 9th to take on Albertus Magnus on the road. Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM in New Haven, Connecticut.
