CANTON, NY - The SUNY Canton Roos had it going offensively as they skated past the AMCATS, 10-0 Friday afternoon at the Roos House Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • SUNY Canton got on the board first at 9:23 when Micayla Macintyre (Fall River, NS) received a pass from Breanna Bedborrough (Brampton, ON) to send the puck past AMCATS tender, Julia Smith (Chillwack, BC) for the 1-0 advantage. Nearly one minute later (10:23), the Roos struck again after Jayde Dukette (Tupper Lake, NY) saw a pass from Caeley Smith (Yonkers, NY) and made it 2-0.
  • The Roos added two more goals in the period off the sticks of Hannah Desrochers (Pilot Mound, MB) and Dukette at 10:36 and 14:19 respectively. However, before the period ended, the AMCATS had a couple of chances to get on the board when Samantha Rodriguez (Corona, CA ) and Sara Sammons (Western Australia, AUS) each had a shot on net, but SUNY Canton goalie, Brooke Susac (Bowmanville, ON) turned away each attempt. 
  • Early in the second period, the 'CATS generated a powerplay opportunity and Jacqueline Howlett (North Haven, CT) had a shot on net, but Susac made the save and maintained the shutout.
  • About midway through the second (11:20), SUNY Canton continued their strong offensive play when Ashley Gillies (Timmins, ON) took a Lilly Cullen (Churchville, NY) and notched the Roos fourth goal. The remainder of the period saw SUNY Canton goals from Bedborough (13:16) and Dukette wrapped up a hat-trick (14:16).
  • For the third period, the Roos tacked on three more goals from Bedborough, Desrochers, and Meaghan Best (Whitby, ON) at 3:03, 7:02, and 12:34 respectively. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Smith earned the start between the pipes and recorded 32 saves. Gabrielle Gibson (Anchorage, AK) also saw time in the net where she had 20 saves.

- Sammons led the AMCATS in shots with three. 

- Susac was in net for the hosts and stopped all nine shots she faced.  

- SUNY Canton held the advantage in powerplays with four compared to Anna Maria's one. 

- The Roos outshot the AMCATS by a 52-9 margin.
