Women's Basketball Triumphant Over NVU-Lyndon

- PAXTON, MASS: The Anna Maria Women's Basketball team bested Northern Vermont University-Lyndon a non-conference opponent this afternoon in the Fuller Center.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/16/2019

- Score: Anna Maria 66, NVU-L 53

- Records: NVU-L (1-2), Anna Maria (1-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The AMCATS jumped out to a 5-point lead after the first quarter when Sienna Johnson (Brockton, MA) and Amber Wilson (New York, NY) combined for 15 of the 19 total points. The Hornets had good ball movement to find the open teammate to give 6 of the 10 players points before the second quarter.    

-  Lyndon found a rhythm in the second quarter as they outscored Anna Maria 15-to-12. Alissa Mitchell was a big part of that as she had a total of 7 points in the quarter. The AMCATS bench found success against the Hornets, starting with Alexis Levels (Fort Lauderdale, FL) who had a quarter high of 8 points. Gabbi Cuevas (West Valley City, UT) tallied 4 points to end the half, with Anna Maria leading 31-29.

-  The AMCATS came out of the locker room ready to take the game from NVU as they outscored them 35-24, in the half. Wilson found herself as the top scorer through the third quarter with 6 points.

- The Contest ended with Wilson being the top scorer with 22 points, 5 assists, and 10 rebounds. She was followed by Sienna who finished with 15 points and 5 steals. Levels finished with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  The AMCATS finished with a 36.8% from the field, to Hornet 33.3%.

-  NVU fell just short in the rebound column as they finished with 38 to the AMCATS 41.

-  Anna Maria forced the Hornets into 27 turnovers throughout the contest, while having 22 of their own.
