Anna Maria Downed by FSU Rams, 80-59

Framingham, Mass. – Junior Katelyn Iafolla (Franklin, Mass.) led the Rams with 19 points as senior Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) notched a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds to help lead the Framingham State University women's basketball team to an 80-59 triumph over Anna Maria Thursday night in a non-conference contest at Framingham's Athletic Center. With the win, the Rams improved to 5-3 while the AMCATS evened out at 3-3 on the year.

Junior Nicole Bostic (Easton, Mass.) tacked on 16 points and junior Margo McCarthy (Southampton, Mass.) chipped in with 14. Freshman Monta Connolly (Lynn, Mass.) came off the bench to corral 11 rebounds as McCarthy doled out six assists and Hoffman added five. Senior Taylor Walker (Winchendon, Mass.) scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Anna Maria while junior Trafficia Warburton (Worcester, Mass.) pitched in with 15 points and 16 caroms, including 10 off the defensive glass.

Framingham State began the game with a 9-0 run. Junior Samantha Irvine (Franklin, Mass.) capped the early spurt with a three-pointer at 17:22. Walker put the AMCATS on the scoreboard with a jumper 21 seconds later. The guests then trimmed the lead to four following Walker's layup at 15:16. The Rams pushed the advantage into double-digits courtesy of a pair of Hoffman free throws at 14:03.

After the Rams staked a 16-point margin with 9:26 left in the frame, a junior Katie Pryor (Whitinsville, Mass.) jumper and triple sparked a 12-0 run to bring the game within four as 3:16 was showing on the scoreboard. Iafolla drained a trio of three-pointers over a span of 1:37 to extend the hosts lead back into double-digits. A McCarthy jumper in the waning moments of the half sent the Rams into the break with a 40-29 lead.

Walker scored seven of the first nine Anna Maria points in the second half as the AMCATS trimmed the lead to 10, the lowest margin of the stanza, with 15:48 to go in the stanza. The Rams outscored the guests 32-21 the rest of the way for the 80-59 decision.

Framingham State hits the road for the final two games of the semester beginning with a 7 p.m. appointment at MIT on Tuesday night. Anna Maria hosts Trinity on Saturday at 1 p.m.
