AMCATS fall to Falcons in second semester opener

New Haven, CT - Freshman guard Lianna Carrero's (Hamden, CT/Hamden) three point play with 2:53 remaining in the second half helped lead the Falcons to a 63-55 win over Anna Maria College in non-conference action on Thursday night. Carrero would score a game high 22 points on 8-11 shooting including 5-5 from the free-throw line. The first half featured poor shooting by both teams but saw Albertus take a 22-19 lead into halftime despite the Falcons shooting just 34.5% from the field. The second half was back and forth with the Falcons leading by single digits the majority of the way until Carrero's key three point play put Albertus ahead 55-47 with just under three minutes remaining. Freshman forward Annie Raucci (Milford, CT/Foran) was 3-4 from the line in the remaining minutes to seal the victory for the Falcons. Senior forward Bianca Brown (West Haven, CT/Career) chipped in 11 points. Anna Maria was led by junior guard Samantha Ashton (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) and her team high 18 points.
