Anna Maria advances to Blue Jay Tip-Off Finals

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Sophomore Chelsea Blair (Holland, Mass.) led all players with 16 points while adding seven rebounds and three blocks to help the Anna Maria College women's basketball team defeat Mitchell College in the opening round of the 13th Annual Blue Jay Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night. It was the second time this week that the AMCATS have defeated the Mariners as AMC improves to 2-0 overall and advances to the Tournament Finals to face host school Saint Joseph's College.

Junior Samantha Ashton (Worcester, Mass.) also played well for Anna Maria, hitting 6-of-12 shots from the floor, compiling 15 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in the win, while sophomore Tonique Adkins (New haven, Conn.) grabbed a team-high 11 boards.

The AMCATS never trailed in the game and will now return to action on Saturday at 3:00 pm to face the Blue Jays in the Tournament Finals.
