Softball Falls to Raiders

PAXTON, MASS: The Anna Maria Softball team was defeated in a pair of shortened games by conference opponent Rivier University 11-3 and 14-0 this afternoon.

 

Records Rivier 7-21, 3-9 GNAC. AMC 2-12, 0-5 GNAC.

 

The Raiders picked up nine hits in game one, with two coming from Taylor Rowsell who was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 with a homerun and four RBI's. Mikayla Ramsdell had a game high of three runs scored while going 1-for-2 with two walks.

 

The AMCATS were able to get four hits in the contest, with the biggest hits coming from Victoria Falco (Marlborough, Mass.) and Ashley Garcia (Cornwall, NY) who both hit solo homeruns. Kayla Mageirowski (Brimfield, Mass.) will continue her season with another RBI pushing her to fourteen on the year with her one hit out of her two official at bats.

 

Pitching

 

Kellie Kennedy got the win today after a three hit five inning performance, with only allowing the three earned runs.

 

Ashley Garcia suffers the loss after three and one third innings, where she gave up six hits and four earned runs.

 

Game Two

 

Riv was able to put up sixteen hits in game two with three being homeruns. Courtney Trahan had a game high in RBI's after a grand slam in the fourth inning. Trahan went 1-for-1 with four Runs batted in and a run scored. Hunter Greenleaf was a solid 2-for-3 with a homerun, along with pushing across three more Raider runs and scoring another two times herself.

 

Anna Maria managed just five hits in the shutout, with three of the five coming from Carreira. Michelle Cilley (Dracut, Mass.) also tallied a hit on a 1-for-3 afternoon. The last hit came from Falco who finished 1-for-2.

 

Pitching

 

Taylor Rowsell finished the shutout with only the five hits given up, three strikeouts, and one walk.

 

Falco suffered the loss after fourteen hits allowed and six earned runs through four innings.

The AMCATS will be back tomorrow as they travel to Johnson & Wales to continues league play, first pitch is slated to be at 11:00 AM.
