Softball Swept by Fitchburg

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Softball Team fell to Fitchburg State in both games of the double header by scores of 13-4 and 9-0 in non-conference action at NEBC.

 

Records:

Fitchburg: 7-4, 8-4. Anna Maria 0-5, 0-6.

 

Game one

 

The Falcons had control of the game from pitch number one, as never trailed in either contest. Olivia Pietersen led the team with three RBI's on a 3-for-4 first game, with an additional three runs scored. McKenzie Lambert also hit two in for Fitchburg while scoring twice herself. Lambert was 2-for-4 on the day. Mikayla Harnois put another two runs on the board on a 2-for-3 day with the two runs batted in and a run scored.

 

The AMCATS tallied eight hits in the contest with Michelle Cilley (Dracut, Mass.) getting three of the eight and a perfect afternoon in game one at the dish. Cilley was 3-for-3 with a run scored. Sabrina Carreira (West Hartford, CT) was also perfect with a team high of two RBI's. Allison Sholds rounded up the Anna Maria scoring with one final RBI, with her going 1-for-3.

 

Pitching

 

Mikayla Harnois got the win for game one with 3.2 innings pitched, 8 hits allowed and 4 earned runs, improving her to 5-1 on the season.

 

Mackenzie Morin (North Smithfield, RI) was tagged with the loss as she allowed 16 hits with 10 earned runs. She will fall to 0-2 on the season.

 

Game Two

 

The Falcons were led by Emma Campbell both in the batter's box and in the pitching circle. Campbell was 2-for-4 with a team high three RBI's. She also received the win for game two with all five innings pitched only one hit allowed and six strikeouts. Emma will improve to 3-1 on the season. Lambert also continued to hit well going 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.

 

Ashley Garcia (Cornwall, NY) was the only AMCAT to register a hit in game two, as she was 1-for-2. Victoria Falco (Marlborough, Mass.) will be tagged with the loss for game two, with five innings pitched and nine earned runs on thirteen hits.

Anna Maria will be back in action Tuesday as they will face Clark University on the road at 3:00 PM.
