Softball Drops First Game of the Season

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Softball team was defeated by Penn State-Fayette this afternoon 12-6 in non-conference action while in Myrtle Beach.

Statistical leaders

 

For the Lions, Destiny Habeck led the team in hits and RBI's with three apiece, while going 3-for-4 on the day. Aubree Yates also plated two runners with her one hit in the contest, as she finished 1-for-4.

 

Tiffany Markovitch was in the circle for Penn State going all 7 innings with only 4 earned runs, 7 hits, and 5 strikeouts. Markovitch was credited with the win to make her record even on the year at 1-1.

 

For the AMCATS, Ashley Garcia (Cornwall, NY) led the team in hits tying the game high with three, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Kayla Magierowski (Brimfield, Mass.) finished with a team high in RBI's with two.   

 

Victoria Falco (Marlborough, Mass.) was tagged with the loss making her 0-1 on the season. She pitched 5.1 innings allowing 11 hits and 11 earned runs, with 2 strikeouts.
